Courtney Minto wins 2018 WA Trainee of the Year

Students, staff and parents contacting our IT Help desk at the College would no doubt have come across Courtney Minto’s smiling face or cheerful, friendly voice this year.

The College has been Courtney’s host employee as she completes a Traineeship in Information, Digital Media Technology with the Apprenticeship and Traineeship Company, and the amazing job she does at the school saw her recently awarded the 2018 WA Trainee of the Year from Apprentice Employment Network (AEN) WA.

The AENWA Awards of Excellence were held last Friday in Perth, recognizing the achievements of apprentices and trainees, employed by Group Training organisations in WA, and the host employees who support them. The 2018 WA Trainee of the Year Award was announced by the sponsor of the main event, Australian Super.

The Hon. Sue Ellery MLC, Minister for Education and Training, presented finalists with their certificates and trophies before more than 130 people consisting of finalists, guests, industry representatives and members of parliament.

Courtney was interviewed on stage about the work she does in technology, and spoke passionately about the College and the students. “It was the happiest I’ve felt in so long getting to tell them all about my joy working with the students.”

Working on the IT Help desk, Courtney combines her IT skills with strong communication skills and a keen willingness to help other people. She is working towards a Certificate IV in Information, Digital Media Technology at the South Regional TAFE Busselton campus, where she was also awarded the 2018 Student of the Year Award.

The College congratulates Courtney on her well-deserved awards.
