Religious Education

St Mary MacKillop College stands for delivering a quality, holistic education that is grounded in the Catholic tradition. Religious Education is central to our curriculum, and lessons are conducted daily in classes from Kindergarten to Year 12. Values and ethics, social justice, service learning and spiritual development are explored within the context of Christian faith and integrated across all learning areas.

Students are guided towards a fundamental understanding of the Catholic Church and its sacraments. All students participate in liturgies throughout the year as well as regular class and school Masses.

As part of the Religious Education program, students participate in preparation programs for:

  • Sacraments of Reconciliation (Year 3)
  • First Eucharist (Year 4)
  • Confirmation (Year 6)

Catholic students entering the College in Years 4 to 12, who have not previously received these sacraments, may be offered the opportunity to join the program through the parish.
