After winning their division in the Bunbury Tennis competition against local schools, MacKillop selected their best junior girls to compete in the 2018 Schools Tennis Classic Metro finals. Caitlin Sheridan (Year 9) and Jade Carter (Year 8), as well as Year 7 girls Matilda Thomson, Milly Oldmeadow, and Isabella Van Kleef, travelled up to Perth to compete in the Metro Finals on Monday 19 March.
The team performed well on the day against some tough competition including All Saints College, PLC and Applecross Senior High School. After a very tight rubber against Willeton Senior High School, the girls enjoyed a great win against Merredin to take out the Herbert Edwards Cup as the winning regional team at the end of the day’s competition.
“The St Mary MacKillop College team put in a fantastic effort to get here and were a credit to the College,” said their coach Mrs Camilla Culnane. “Our junior girls played well and fought hard all day. They were a pleasure to take away for the day.”
