Year 7 Retreat and Community Building Day

Year 7 Retreat and Community Building Day

On Tuesday 7 February, the Year 7 students spent a Retreat Day off campus at the Catholic Youth Camp in Abbey, with more opportunities to get to know other students and bond as a year group.

Students discovered more about the history of the College and how we came to be, as well as our past principals, the significance of our House names and our traditions. They also learned about

our Patroness, St Mary MacKillop, our FIRST values and what they mean.

House groups then rotated through activities designed to help foster a greater sense of belonging and community. All students got involved in volleyball, building sandcastles and other team games and activities on the beach and grassed areas.

Students also participated in small groups on some quirky activities that focused on laughter. The aim was to help build on their social and emotional skills and resilience by developing their ‘sense of humour’.

All students enjoyed the day, and most said they made some new friends and learnt more students’ names.

Homeroom Representatives from Year 9 assisted students and teaching staff throughout the day, including preparing the BBQ lunch.
