Assembly and Awards 5JC: Time Lord and the Tardis

The Year 5 class of Room 14 put in an amazing effort to get their Assembly up and running on Friday, with Mr Cotterell away.

They took the audience on a journey through time and space with Dr Who and his Tardis, beginning with a visit to the Australian goldfields during the gold rush of the early 18th century. The travellers spoke to the miners about the poor living conditions, and almost got caught up in the uprising of the Eureka Stockade, before managing to speak with some of the migrants who arrived in the goldfields seeking their fortunes.

Soon the Doctor and his companions were travelling from the icy tundras of the Arctic to the balmy Amazon Rainforest, speaking with the people who lived there and enduring the dramatic environments of North and South America. They shared lots of information about where and how they lived with these extreme weather conditions.

After an unexpected detour and a lucky escape from a Cyberman, the Tardis made it back home to Room 14, where the class have been learning about 24 hour time and timezones. The class finished their assembly with a medley dance performance to songs about time, including The Time Warp, Summertime, Time After Time, Don’t Stop and It’s the Time of Your Life.
