2017 Graduate Results: 100% VET Achievement

The College congratulates all 2017 graduates who successfully completed nationally accredited Certificate courses for their WACE results through VET Achievement.

The College offers 12 VET programs from Certificate II to Certificate IV, providing tailored pathways for apprenticeships, traineeships and direct employment, as well as alternative tertiary entrance options to TAFE and universities.

Forty five Year 12 students who took Certificate courses at MacKillop in 2017 obtained a total of 70 VET certificates between them. Lachlan Armstrong received an Award of Excellence in VET for Manufacturing Industries Studies, and 100% of our VET students completed a Certificate II or higher, with five students achieving a Certificate IV.

This is now the seventh year the College has achieved 100% VET Achievement since 2010, and MacKillop is still the only regional college in WA to have achieved this status across more than three consecutive years.

VET Coordinator Matthew Harslett suggests a key factor is the College’s unique pastoral environment. “Our teaching staff not only have current accreditation in their industry,” he says, “but they share this expertise within the strong value system of the College.”

Trade and industry qualified teachers at the College deliver all Certificate courses internally, with students accessing a number of advanced training facilities available on campus.

VET programs offered at St Mary MacKillop College include Business, Community Services, Music, Creative Arts, Hospitality, Carpentry, Engineering, Building & Construction, Sports Coaching, Sport & Recreation, Nursing and Skills for Work.
