SWPSA Interschool Swimming Carnival in Bunbury

Seven weeks of early Thursday mornings paid off for the team of 34 students in Years 4-6 who competed in the SWPSA Interschool Swimming Carnival in Bunbury recently.

Some outstanding results were achieved on the day, including a win in the Year 4 Girls 4x50m freestyle relay. Sophie Heathcote also won her C Division freestyle and backstroke races, while Madeleine Harvey got a third and second in the A Division breaststroke and 50m freestyle, respectively.

Oliver Snedden won the Year 4 Boys A Division Breaststroke, while Year 6 student Sabella Banks earned ribbons in A Division freestyle, backstroke and butterfly. Year 4 swimmers Cameron Hegarty, Ella Reid and Kalen Bennet all won C Division races, as did Violet Reynolds in Year 6.

The Year 5 Boys also placed second in both their relays, and many other students swam well to place in races throughout the day.

The Primary Swim Team have been preparing for the carnival under the guidance of Mrs Camilla Culnane and Mrs Adele Ryan, who said all students should be commended for the efforts they put in both at the carnival and throughout the training sessions. “Every swimmer did themselves and the College proud”.

The PE staff are sincerely grateful to Mrs Janet Mullany and the Certificate in Hospitality students who also got up early to cook and provide breakfast for swimmers and staff on training days.
