Year 10 Work Experience

This week our Year 10 students stepped out of their comfort zone and took on a week of hands-on experience in the workforce. From Teacher Assistants on the Primary campus to an abalone fishing boat out of Augusta, students followed their passion, interests or curiosity to explore the world of work.

Students even pursued opportunities in Bunbury and Perth, taking on roles in broadcasting, architecture, horticulture and medicine, to name a few. Joclyn Stocks attended law courts and offices in Sydney, Ben Hanna explored farming in Northampton, while Indigo Swan travelled as far as Tonga to work with whales.

Some took to their chosen roles straight away, others were challenged more than they expected, and a few even realised they would prefer to follow a different path after all.

Careers Coordinator Marion Behiels said students approached their work experience as an opportunity to learn more about their career options, and they all represented the College very well in the wider community. Many employers spoke very highly of their manners and work ethic, and some were even offered part time jobs as a result.

The College is grateful to the 131 businesses and organisations, in the Cape to Cape region and beyond, who took on students for Year 10 Work Experience.
