Basketball Champions Cup 2018

Basketball Champions Cup 2018

After winning the South West basketball competition in September at Eaton Recreation Centre, our Year 6 girls’ basketball team were invited to play in the Champions Cup basketball competition at the Bendat Basketball Centre in Perth on Wednesday 21 November.

It was an early start to a big day, leaving the Primary campus at 6am and returning at 6pm. The girls played a great level of basketball all day, remaining undefeated in Pool B of the competition in the round robin stages.

In the grand final we played the winner of Pool A, West Leeming Primary School, who were also undefeated in their pool. The grand final saw a great effort by the girls, however we were defeated 29-9. This meant we were runners up for the Champions Cup, what a fantastic effort! I am so proud of the way our girls represented the College. They all played with great team spirit and skill and were a pleasure to take away for the day.

The results of our games in our Pool were as follows:

Game 1 vs Quinns Rock Primary School Win 41-6
Game 2 vs St Lawrence Primary School Win 23-2
Game 3 vs Beechboro Primary School Win 18-10
Game 4 vs Penrhos College Win 22-15
Game 5 vs St Anthony’s School Win 26-10

The team consisted of:

Rebekah Cook
Havana Milner
Holly-Jo Delany
Sabella Banks
Larnie Williams
Olivia Loftus
Charlie Gillmore
Charlize McKeag

Thanks goes to our Year 10 coaches: Lani Coutanche-Smith, Ella Anderson and Maria Toovey, who scored each game and were fantastic leaders for the girls all day.
