On Thursday the 7 November, the Year 10 Visual Arts students welcomed Perth artist Rachelle Dusting for a full day Artist in Residence workshop.
A portrait and mural painter, Rachelle spoke to the students about her experiences as an artist, beginning in high school through to becoming a full-time professional artist. Throughout the course of the day, she also instructed the students on the essentials of oil paint, and how to observe details in tone and colour to produce realism in their paintings.
Rachelle displayed a great passion for teaching and instructing the Year 10s through the process of creating quality artwork, and the students came away with three artworks they produced during the day as well as an extensive list of tips and advice to assist them with their own art practices heading into Year 11 and 12.
