On Wednesday 4 March, our ‘ballers’ headed to Bunbury to participate in the ACC Basketball Championship Carnival for the South West Pool. The players were keen to get involved and expected some very challenging games from Georgiana Molloy, Frederick Irwin, Foundation and Bunbury CC.
The 7-9 Junior boys had great success in their matches, managing to showcase the skills they have developed over the past few weeks and finish undefeated on top of their pool. This result now means that the Junior boys advance to the next round and the College will likely host a home final in our school Gymnasium.

Mackillop 46 v Georgiana Molloy 26
Mackillop 49 v Foundation 33
The 7-9 Junior girls were extremely competitive in their pool matches consistently displaying a high level of skills. Unfortunately, Georgiana Molloy proved too strong in our opening match, and a loss against Frederick Irwin in the last two minutes cost us the points required to advance to the next round.
Mackillop 17 v Georgiana Molloy 49
Mackillop 32 v Foundation 25
Mackillop 37 v Frederick Irwin 45
The 10-12 Senior boys experienced an extremely challenging pool, with Georgiana Molloy the team to beat. The boys worked really well defensively, keeping their opponents to low scores. Offensively, though, the boys needed to apply more pressure on the scoreboard.
Mackillop 20 v Bunbury CC 35
Mackillop 52 v Foundation 22
Mackillop 17 v Georgiana Molloy 31
Mackillop 25 v Frederick Irwin 35
The 10-12 Senior girls’ performance proved to be really competitive with multiple contributors to the scoreboard and excellent defensive pressure. Games against Bunbury CC and Georgiana Molloy were decided in the last few minutes, but Frederick Irwin were strong enough to secure their match, and the final result, in the second half.
Mackillop 23 v Bunbury CC 33
Mackillop 30 v Foundation 17
Mackillop 18 v Georgiana Molloy 22
Mackillop 17 v Frederick Irwin 37
