Literature Festival

Literature Festival

On Friday the 18 March the College held its first ever Literature Festival. In conjunction with Dymocks Busselton, 11 authors, illustrators and artists and 270 students from other schools around the region joined 750 of our own students on the grounds of our beautiful College to enjoy a day of lectures, workshops and meet the author sessions.

The kindergarten students decorated library bags and Pre Primary classes were read to under the trees by Sally Murphy and Rebecca Cool. The year one to five students had authors such as Frane Lessac, Meg McKinlay, Norman Jorgensen and Deb Fitzpatrick visit their classrooms to talk about the writing process and their books! While this was happening, the year sixes spent the day working with Rebecca Cool to create the awesome sustainability focused mural outside the primary campus canteen.

On the senior campus students attended lectures and workshops on everything from picture book creation to visual literacy. The day aimed to encourage our students to gain a deeper understanding of the process of writing and to ensure a love of literature, something the College hopes to foster in all of our students.

The day ensured a wonderful, buzzing atmosphere of visitors, staff and students enjoying treats from the Timor Snack stall, browsing at the Dymocks pop-up book shop, chatting to the writers and sharing their experiences of the day with each other.
