Collaborative Learning project to unlock potential

Every student at St Mary MacKillop College is part of a supportive and caring community where they are equipped to realise their purpose and potential.

Our Year 8 teachers gathered recently as part of the College’s ongoing Collaborative Learning Project (CLP) to discuss student progress from a ‘big picture’ perspective, using data collected over the last twelve months.

The teachers make use of a ‘data wall’ which aims to track student progress across the year group. Identifying the individual progress of students allows for brainstorming in order to determine how teachers can work together to help each student reach their full potential.

But the conversation doesn’t stop there. Our Collaborative Learning Team provides regular opportunities for teachers to share ideas and engage in enriching conversation with colleagues across learning areas who are passionate about student achievement.

The College is half-way through its three-year Collaborative Learning Project with CEWA entitled ‘Growth through Great Teaching’, developing and improving pedagogy and learning environments with the aim to go from being a ‘good’ school to a ‘great’ school for all students, regardless of where they are on the learning continuum.
