Ride for Youth

The Hawaiian Ride for Youth visited St Mary MacKillop College on their way to Perth in the final week of last term to share stories and spread awareness on mental health.

The College has been a regular stop on the ride since 2004, with riders talking to our Year 9 students about the event and why they decided to participate. The event aims to spread the message about suicide prevention and mental illness, and this year 143 participants rode from Albany to Perth, splitting off into three groups and taking either a coastal, Wheatbelt or inland route.

The visit to the College provides another avenue for students to seek support, listen to stories and know that they are not alone.

Over the past 13 years, the ride has also raised more than $12.7 million to help Youth Focus combat youth suicide and depression, with an additional $2.24 million raised this year.

If you or someone you know is thinking of suicide, phone Lifeline on 13 11 14.
