AUSTRALIAN RULES FOOTBALL: Senior Girls Kicking to Conquer CF

On Saturday 11 June, our Senior Girls Football team played against Georgiana Molloy under lights at Sir Stewart Bovell Park, as part of the community event Kicking to Conquer Cystic Fibrosis.

Following the Busselton Magpies League game, the game garnered plenty of interest as the girls demonstrated their ability in front of a huge crowd. It was a tight contest from the first bounce with only two points separating the teams for the majority of the game. With less than three minutes remaining, GMAS booted two quick goals to seal our fate and win the match 3.4.22 to 1.2.8.

The girls are to be congratulated for the way in which they represented the College. Their competitive spirit and sportsmanship was outstanding, and they are beginning to enjoy a healthy rivalry with the girls from GMAS. The biggest disappointment was not the loss, but the fact that the game could not have gone on for another two quarters. Best players on the night were Marli Enslin, Ashton Embry and Imogen Smith. Thank you to Mr P Culnane, Ms Smith, and Mr Taylor for their wonderful support and assistance.

The game contributed towards a well coordinated day and evening of football and entertainment to raise much needed funds for Cystic Fibrosis Research. We look forward to making this an annual event and showcasing the talent our female footballers have to offer the game, as well as contributing as a College community to what is a very worthwhile cause.
