Ultimate Frisbee: 2007 alumni visits for Western Regionals

2007 MacKillop alumni Ebony Taylor brought her Ultimate Frisbee teammates to the College before the weekend’s Western Regionals tournament in Margaret River, to run a series of clinics with our Phys-Ed students on Friday.

The students were shown a number of different frisbee throws and techniques. They had a chance to practice each throw, before forming teams of five and playing games designed to apply what they had learned.

Ebony, who is a geologist with Woodside, started playing Ultimate Frisbee while studying at UWA, and now plays for Kaos Ultimate in Perth. The club’s two teams were champions and runners up in the Western Regionals Tournament at Gloucester Park in Margaret River over the weekend.

Ebony has also travelled interstate and overseas playing Ultimate Frisbee, including Singapore and Hawaii. This year she will represent Australia at the World Flying Disc Federation’s Beach Ultimate Championships in the south of France in June.

“It was great to come back to the college and see how much it’s changed since I was a student here,” said Ebony. “We thoroughly enjoyed the day teaching the kids, who were all very interested and eager to learn about the sport. Thanks to MacKillop for hosting us.”
