Book-aneer Book Fair

Book-aneer Book Fair

AARGH! Me Mateys – the 2017 Book Fair was a Grrreat success. Students, staff and parents alike all arrived dressed as pirates, with a parrot, a few mermaids and even a treasure chest thrown in, to enjoy the activities and food in the Primary campus’ undercover area. All money raised at the various food and game stalls on the night is allocated to the classrooms to purchase valuable resources.

The Scholastic Book Fair set up in the Hall was well supported, with popular books selling out quickly. Ashton Scholastic donates up to 20% back to our primary library depending on the total sales on the night. Thank you for your support our library will be full of great new books.

Our local bookstores, Dymocks and Barefoot Books, were also very busy with their stalls on the night, with 10% of their sales donated back to the primary library.

Over $105 was also raised, as well as several new books donated, to restock the library at St Joseph’s Primary School in Wyndham, with a ‘Raise the Anchor’ campaign in collaboration with MacKillop 2012 graduate (and first-time teacher) Gabriella Somma. Mrs Magee’s Year 5 class have been corresponding with Miss Somma’s Year 5/6 class in Wyndham during this year as they work towards building a new school. The students made posters to promote the stall and the resulting response will be very much appreciated by this small north-west community.

Colouring-in competition winners were:

Sienna Miller (KG), April McCamey (PP), Jude Hansen (Yr1), William Jasper (Yr2), Ruby Loftus (Yr3), Harry Avery (Yr4), and Alice Lucas (Yr5).

Year 6 students Gypsy Plester and Tasmin Prince also won $10 book vouchers for their treasure map designs. Tasmin promptly donated her voucher to the library at St Joseph’s Wyndham in a wonderful act of generosity. “I have lots of books,” she said.

Thank you to everyone for supporting our Annual Book Fair once again.
