Soccer selection for SE Asia Youth Cup

Three students from St Mary MacKillop College will be representing WA in the South East Asia Youth Cup competitions in Phuket and Singapore later this year.

A number of our students were selected during 2016 Country Week for a Football West Country Camp in April this year, where they completed three days of training and played games against A-grade Perth teams such as Glory and Subiaco.

From that process, Football West offered several of our students team placements in the Singa and Phuket Youth Cup competitions.

The following St Mary MacKillop College students will be travelling to Asia to represent Football West in November:

  • Kelly Harding – Under 13 team, Phuket Youth Cup, Thailand;
  • Huie O’Halloran – Under 16 team, Singa Youth Cup, Singapore; and
  • Justin McClurg – Under 16 team, Singa Youth Cup, Singapore.

Kelly and Huie play for MacKillop United SC in the Year 7/8 and Youth League Teams respectively, while Year 10 student Justin has just been selected to play for Phoenix Bunbury this season in the National Premier League WA competition.

This is quite an achievement for these young players from over 1,100 players at Country Week, and certainly an exciting experience for them.
