Timor 2017 Team has over 50,000 reasons to smile

The Timor 2017 fundraising total is now $52,000. The difference this money will make to the lives of the children we support in Timor is immeasurable. This year's fundraising equates to:

  • 3 Kindergarten classrooms
  • 6 classrooms accessing electricity for the first time
  • 7 students accessing tertiary education
  • 13 computers for schools in two areas
  • 61 families being given a clutch of three chickens to ensure protein in children's diets
  • Shelving for the local library in a Baguia
  • Repairs to a school chapel and a kindergarten in Haekoni
  • Many more school children accessing education who could otherwise not afford it.

Our Year 12 Timor Team will depart on Saturday 2 July, with a one-night changeover in Darwin before landing in Dili, Timor Leste. The group will then travel by bus through the mountains to the village of Baguia, where they will spend the next few days in the schools and communities who will benefit from their impressive fundraising efforts over the last ten months.

The group comprises of Year 12 students Jazz Naughton, Sarah Birch, Will Culnane, Kaylen Russell-Morey, Hannah Bird, Marli Enslin, Frances Venecourt, Zac Conroy, Lachie Lee-Perkin and Lani Hazel-Bergstrom. They will be travelling with Ms Kathy Jackson, Mr Micheal Bradley and Mr Paul Northover.

Thanks to everyone who has supported this initiative in any way. The Timor fundraising is quite literally a life changing experience for both the communities we support in Timor, and for the ten students selected to travel to Timor. The students cover 100% of their costs for the trip ensuring that ALL fundraising will be invested into buildings

We wish the group safe travels.
