Mrs Tilley’s Year 2 class shared the joys of grammar in their assembly at the end of Week 6 – and it was MUCH more exciting than it sounds!
The class began by demonstrating, very colourfully, examples of nouns and adjectives. Each student had drawn a picture of a different animal and came dressed as that animal, with some fantastic costumes thanks to the parents. Students shared a description they had written of their animal (the noun), using three adjectives (describing words).
Students then paired up to show the pictures they had created in class of different compound words. They accompanied these drawings by demonstrating the combination of two words to create their compound word.
The assembly concluded with a song that included lots of verbs. The students performed some energetic dance moves to demonstrate the different verbs in the song, such as JUMP, STAMP and DANCE. The crowd were happy to CLAP and SING along as well, which made the students feel like superstars. Thanks to Miss Jessie Pilpel who helped the class prepare for their assembly.
