Assembly and Awards 3KC: Italy during the Renaissance

What an amazing performance Room 8 gave for their assembly. To highlight and extend their knowledge of Italian, the year 3 students were very excited to perform their assembly in Italian. Working under minimal time every Friday to learn their lines and practice songs, the students were both dedicated and motivated as they sang, spoke and acted through a variety of settings based on their research of the Renaissance period.

The assembly began with a song called ‘Buongiorno’ (good morning) about greetings, before introducing Michelangelo and his artistic works. The second song was called ‘Ci vuole un fiore’ (you need a flower), which linked the importance of nature in everyday life. The audience also met Leonardo da Vinci and took a look at some of his paintings. Each song became increasingly difficult for the students to learn in Italian, and culminated with "A Letter to Pinocchio", where the class introduced the world famous book character, Pinocchio, created by Italian author Carlo Collodi.

Other highlights of the assembly included the displays of up-cycled lampshades based on a Renaissance look and the beautiful 3D models of the ‘The Red Angel with a Lute’, a Renaissance painting by a student of Da Vinci.
