Hospitality students provide service for Cystic Fibrosis

Hospitality students from the College served as wait staff at a recent charity event hosted by Laundry43 for Cystic Fibrosis. Held at Hyde Park in Busselton, over 300 people attended the Melbourne Cup luncheon, which raised over $20,000 for this worthwhile cause.

Eighteen students in Year 10 and 11, working towards their Certificate II in Hospitality, relished the opportunity to serve food at the prestigious cocktail function, which also included a silent auction and fashion parade. Despite the heat, students loved the day, and gained valuable experience in the hospitality industry working with high-level clientele.

Patrons at the event were very impressed with the behaviour and professionalism of the students, who were pleasant and courteous in their interactions with both attendees and other hospitality staff. From the feedback it was clear that the students represented the College and their hospitality skills commendably throughout the luncheon.

Cystic Fibrosis currently affects over 3,300 Australians, with an average lifespan for sufferers of only 27 years. The event’s patron was local girl Jackie Hodson, who has recently celebrated her 26th birthday.
