Author and illustrator visit from Margaret River festival

Last week the College Library hosted Primary campus workshops on character development from author Sasha Wasley and illustrator Chris Nixon, who were in town for the Margaret River Young Readers & Writers Festival.

Illustrator of the book Pandamonium, Chris Nixon, helped students in Year 3 to create their own characters and stories through drawing. “Chris was great fun,” said Teacher Librarian Kerry Muste. “The children were really engaged and creative.” Pandamonium author Chris Owen also attended the recent Literature Festival at the College.

Sasha Wasley also ran a writers’ workshop about creating compelling characters. Enthusiastic writers in Year 6 enjoyed the opportunity to learn simple techniques on how to develop characters in their own writing and stories.

Thanks to Kerrie Yabsley, the Festival Director of Margaret River Readers & Writers Festival, Arts Margaret River for giving our students the chance to meet these two wonderful and talented people.
