Timor 2018 raffle results and ‘glad’ wrap-up

First things first - THE WINNERS OF THE TIMOR 2018 RAFFLE ARE…
1st Prize: Simone Clews – Ticket #066
2nd Prize: Hayley Poupouare – Ticket #191
3rd Prize: Trish Skuthorp – Ticket #168
Congratulations to these lucky winners!

Tayla Jackson, Sam Tolley, Lili Renfrey, Ethan Durrant, Sarah Court, Diwan Ackerman, Sophie Wilmot, Ross Rann and Ned McMinigal, would like to thank the College and wider community for supporting their efforts in raising money to support a number of projects under the guidance of the Josephite Sisters’ Mary MacKillop East Timor Mission.

The 2018 Timor Team should be very proud of their fundraising efforts, which will enable the continued support of three schools, teacher training and resources and the payment of fees for students who would not be able to attend school otherwise.

This year the team successfully introduced some new fundraising initiatives including the Car Boot Sale and Primary Disco, which together raised over $4,300, while selling treats at the Beauty & the Beast production raised over $2,500. The disco was a huge success, thanks to DJ Ross and his helpers, prompting calls for this to be an annual event.

Traditional favourites continue to be very popular, including the High Tea (raising close to $8,000) and the recent Movie Night, both thoroughly enjoyed by the community. Many raffles were held, thanks to the enormous generosity of donations from local businesses.

The Timor team, together with their families, have stood in the searing sun or pouring rain volunteering for the Iron Kids, Ironman, 70.3 and the X-Adventure. They turned many a sausage and burger on the BBQ at the Christmas Concert, Car Boot Sale and Lions Shed, and even introduced a Corned Beef Roll with Cheese Sauce at the Book Fair. Cakes were baked, donuts made, faces painted and donation tins were filled at the P&F Sundowner and various local fairs.

With the major raffle drawn this week, the last of the amazing prizes are still to be won: Nina’s white gold and diamond earrings with a $200 Nina’s gift voucher, a 0.24ct round brilliant cut diamond and a Bedding Package – so stay by your phones! Glad Wrap, Bake and Foil orders will finish this weekend, and donations continue to come in from individuals and businesses with overwhelming generosity.

On 1 July, the nine students and three staff head off to East Timor, where they will reap the rewards from all the hard work and effort of the last eight months by meeting the children and families who will benefit.

We wish them safe travels.
