When 1.6 million children around the world protested recently about climate change, our Student Council were also keen to give students at the College an opportunity to make an impact.

In the Secondary Campus during Monday lunchtime, Year 12 student Eva Burkhardt organised a protest and a minute of silence in the main quadrangle, as a small contribution to this global action. Eva also took this opportunity to share facts and statistics with onlooking students and staff over a speaker to explain more about why climate change action is so important.

Primary leader Audrey McSevich said that a number of Year 6 students had contributed to the protest with posters drawing attention to climate change. She also said the Primary Student Council have been busy looking at ways to encourage students to choose nude food and beeswax wraps instead of highly packaged foods and plastic wrappers.

“We are planning ways that we can lessen our environmental footprint as a College.” Audrey has suggested some ideas that families can do easily at home to help prevent environmental issues including climate change, and she encourages everyone to start on something today.
