Surf Lifesaving: 16-medal haul at Country Championships

Year 11 student Lucy Hill returned from the Surf Lifesaving WA State Championships in Perth over the weekend with a Bronze medal in the 2km Beach Run and 6th place in the Board Rescue. Lucy also made it through to the finals in the under 17 Board, Surf and Ski races, as well as the Ironwoman.

These results follow on from her success in the WA Country Championships at Sorrento the previous weekend, where she took home two gold medals in the u17 Beach Run and Ski race, and two silver in the u17 Ironwoman and Board race. Lucy also teamed up with fellow St Mary MacKillop College student Angus Johnston-Walker to win gold in both the u17 Mixed Board and Taplin relays, and with his sister Maddison to win silver in the Open Female Board relay.

Lucy’s Busselton Surf Lifesaving Club teammates also medalled in solo events at the Country Championships: Angus won gold in the u17 Ironman and Surf race and silver in the Board race, as well as silver in the Open Male Surf race, while Maddison won a bronze medal in the Open Female Surf race for a total of sixteen medals between the three of them!
