Primary SWPSA Swimming Carnival @Bunbury

Primary SWPSA Swimming Carnival @Bunbury

On Thursday 28 March our Year 4-6 Interschool Swim team travelled to the South West Sports Centre in Bunbury to compete in the South West Primary Sports Association (SWPSA) Swimming Carnival. We competed against eight other schools, from Great Southern Grammar to Leschenault Catholic School including Our Lady of the Cape, GMAS and BCGS. It was a great day with our students achieving great results and also enjoying the challenge of swimming in a 50m pool.

Training on Thursday mornings was very popular this year with delicious breakfasts following their fantastic effort in the pool. Thank you to Mrs Mullany and the Senior Hospitality students for making early morning training so much more appealing, and to Mrs Culnane and Mrs Ryan for training the students each week.

During the carnival all students were a credit to the school and represented MacKillop with pride. Although the SWPSA sport days and carnivals are based on participation, the team placed well across the day. Special mention to the Year 4 and Year 5 Girls who won their freestyle relays and to Lucy Byrne, Josephine Taylor, Noah Fountain and Brooke Jennings in Year 4, Madeleine Harvey, Macey Bird Atkinson and Sophie Heathcote in Year 5, as well as Nicole Acquino in Year 6, who each earned blue ribbons for winning their events.

Thank you to Mr A Culnane and Miss Hammond for organising teams for the carnival, buses to and from training and marshalling on the day.
