The St Mary MacKillop College Athletics squad competed in the ACC ‘D’ Division Athletics Carnival held in the State Athletics Centre at Challenge Stadium on Friday 20 September. All the students put up some great performances and had an awesome day, with our Senior Girls even managing to come away with a trophy.
Special mention to Year 11 student Lucy Hill, and Charlize McKeag in Year 7, who both won their First Division 800m and 1500m races in the Open and Under 13 age groups.
For the first time we also participated in the ‘No Limits’ Track and Field competition, with Jasmin Conlon setting new records in both the 400m and 100m. Maxwell Avery also ran the 100m and missed out on a new record by only one second. It was great to see them both perform.
Thank you to the following staff who gave their time and efforts to make sure that the students were well prepared: Mr Paul Culnane, Mr Andrew Culnane, Mr Miles Armstrong, Mr Mark Taylor, Mr Paul Northover, Mr Ben Horrocks, Mrs Lucy Scott as well as Miss Amy Hammond for all her hard work and organisation for the carnival. Thank you also to all the students who made the effort to attend training each afternoon despite other sporting, school, work and family commitments.
