On Thursday 18 February and Friday 19 February, St Mary MacKillop College students participated in the annual Year 5-8 and 9-12 Inter-House Swimming Carnival for 2021, at the Geographe Leisure Centre.
The House factions were fantastic in managing competitors for their events, and continued the School’s strong House tradition of cheering in support of their respective swimmers. The carnival was certainly a whole School event, with students and staff involved in ICT, recording, timing, photography, videoing, cheering, swimming and House spirit - demonstrating our school motto to the highest level: ‘choose life with courage’.
It is the participation of all students and staff that makes this such an entertaining event, and I thank everyone for their efforts on the day.
After day one of the carnival it was McCormack leading the charge. A strong second day performance by Russell made a run for the title, but McCormack held strong yet again. All Houses certainly had their highlights in the pool, with medal winners being spread across all factions.
Congratulations to McCormack House for winning the 2021 Swimming Carnival. It was fantastic to see the willingness of all House members to get competitors into every race, as well as students nominating for all events. This is a credit to the House Co-ordinators and Leaders.
