A group of Year 9 students travelled to Bunbury on 2 June to take part in the ‘Science and Engineering Challenge’. Managed by the Rotary Club of Bunbury-Leschenault, this day of activity allows students to experience aspects of science and engineering they may not encounter in a school environment. Students also compete against other schools in problem-solving tasks using scientific and mathematical understanding in practical applications. Some activities that students participated in required them to build a ‘Mars’ buggy, create a bionic hand, power a city or build a catapult. The aim was to inspire students to make a difference in the world by choosing a career in science and engineering. Everyone also had fun meeting students from different schools in the region and learning some new skills.
