Swimming Championships in Perth and Darwin

Five MacKillop students qualified for the State Swimming Championships, which were held on September 9 in Perth.

Ross Rann was a finalist in the 50m freestyle, 100m backstroke and 200m backstroke, and went on to achieve silver medals in both backstroke events.

Isobel Norris qualified in five events and was a finalist in the 200m breaststroke.  She was also part of the 400m medley team to break a WA country residential record.

Maddy Johnston-Walker qualified for finals in the 200m IM and 100m backstroke and achieved a bronze medal in the 100m backstroke.  She was also a member of the 100m medley age and open teams to bring country records back to Busselton.

Niamh Jury and Angus Johnston Walker also swam personal best times in their debut at State Champs.

Indi Williams, Ross Rann and Maddy Johnston-Walker also travelled to Darwin for the National SchoolSports Swimming Championships.

Indi swam up in the 17-19yo category and put in a mammoth meet with nine individual events. She made it to finals in four events, with 200m butterfly her outstanding event.

Ross Rann represented WA in four finals events including backstro­ke and freestyle. He achieved a national qualifying time in the 100m backstroke, and also swam in three relay events.
