The first week of school at St Mary MacKillop College is an exciting time, where students arriving on campus for the first time are welcomed and given opportunities to explore their new surroundings.
Amidst our new students this year, however, was a rather unexpected arrival. It was in the form of a white cockatoo, who staff discovered hovering around the peppermint trees in the College grounds during the first week.
It soon became clear that the bird was a pet, as it was quite comfortable sitting on shoulders and being hand fed.
Warmly welcomed along with the rest of our new arrivals on campus, the cockatoo has found a temporary home in the Maths office while staff try to locate its possible owner.
