2017 Secondary Presentation Night

2017 Secondary Presentation Night

St Mary MacKillop College’s Annual Secondary Presentation Night was held on Thursday evening, 16 November, in the College gymnasium. This formal evening recognised the efforts of the College’s finest academic and performing arts students for the year, and also showcased a few of the highlights from 2017.

All Subject Awards for Years 7-12 were presented, as well as a number of Special Awards sponsored by various organisations and businesses.

Dux of the College was awarded to outgoing Head Boy, Riorden O’Shea, who also took home this year’s prestigious Mary MacKillop Medal and the ADF Long Tan Award for Leadership. Frances Venecourt received the Proxime Accessit and the Principal’s Award.

Among the highlights of the night was the Year 10 rock band’s rendition of ‘Havana’, featuring the vocal talents of Leila Cummins, and a brave performance by the orphans from this year’s musical production of ANNIE Jr. The six girls in Years 7-9 courageously demonstrated ‘the show must go on’ with well-placed confidence in their singing and dancing ability - even without backing music.

Reports from outgoing Head Boy and Head Girl, Riorden O’Shea and Delaney Wilson, as well as from the Principal Frank Norton, an address by Bishop Gerard Holohan, as well as a number of excellent dance performances and two pieces from The Senior Jazz Band, rounded out what was a highly enjoyable night.
