Year 5 and 6 students enjoy Cricket T20 Blast

The Milo T20 Blast was held at the College Oval on Thursday 30 November. This was an all day Cricket Tournament for 150 Year 5 and 6 students, who made up twenty mixed teams.

This event was perfect for our Year 5 and 6 boys and girls. Rachel Norman, Nathan and Curtis from the South West Regional Cricket Development Office used modified equipment, set up the ten cricket fields and created an exciting atmosphere, complete with music.

After five matches, students grasped a good understanding of the rules, as well as some basic cricket skills and game sense. Most importantly, they also displayed excellent teamwork, communication and sportsmanship throughout the day.

Primary students and staff appreciated the assistance from five Year 12 Phys Ed students: Cormac Smith, Regan Johnston, Regan Trigwell, Kilburn Booth and Ethan Beatty. Former MacKillop student Connor Smith and Zimbabwe Junior International cricketer Ardene, in Busselton to play club cricket for the summer, also served as umpires and were essential to the smooth running and success of this event.

T20 Blast for Year 5 & 6 was organised by Nadia Farmer with the help of the South West Regional Cricket Development Office, whom promote cricket on behalf of the WACA.
