Media students enjoy CinefestOz

Media students took the opportunity recently to participate in a number of activities, workshops and special screenings during CinefestOz.

Year 10 Media students attended IndigifestOz Day later in the week, where they heard from screen legend Kelton Pell (Red Dog: True Blue), and Jasper Jones star Aaron McGrath. They finished their visit at a screening of the documentary She Who Must be Loved, about 78-year-old Freda Glynn: Aboriginal woman, photographer and co-founder of the Central Australian Aboriginal Media Association.

Senior Media Production and Analysis students spent the day at Cinefest’s excursion hub participating in a range of interactive media activities. They also attended a preview screening of the locally made film Go! which included a Q&A session with the directors and cast members. The Year 12 class also went to the Cinesnaps Grand Finale to see the work of classmate Alastair Bruce recognised as one of seven finalists in the student short film competition.

Year 9 and 10 Media students were also fortunate to enjoy a recent visit from digital experience designer, Malcom Burt, who delivered a hands-on workshop on virtual and augmented reality.
