SWPSA Swimming Carnival

SWPSA Swimming Carnival

On Thursday 25 March our interschool swimming team travelled to the South West Sports Centre in Bunbury to compete in the South West Primary Sports Association (SWPSA) swimming carnival. We competed against 8 other schools including: Our Lady of the Cape Primary School, GMAS, BCGS, Grace Christian School, St Joseph’s Catholic School, St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, Leschenault Catholic Primary School, Hope Christian College and Bunbury Baptist College. It was a great day with our students achieving great results and also having lots of fun swimming in a 50m pool.

Training on Thursdays mornings was very popular this year with fantastic efforts in the pool as well as delicious breakfasts made by Mrs Mullany and the senior Hospitality classes as well as Glenn Jones. Overall the team placed well on the day in each event. All students were a credit to the school and represented St Mary MacKillop College with pride. There was no overall winning school as SWPSA sport days and carnivals are based on participation. Special mention goes to the following students who were placed first in their events on the day.

Year 6
Lucy Byrne
Neve Foley
Ebony Edwards
Levi Fox
Year 6 girls freestyle relay

Year 5
Jessica Hayes
Alice Bird Atkinson
Year 5 girls freestyle relay

Year 4
Summer Thompson
Alfie Culnane

Thanks goes to Mr McDonald and Miss Hammond for organising carnivals and the teams, buses to and from training and marshalling on the day; Mrs Mullany and the senior hospitality students for the great breakfasts that make training so much more appealing; and Mrs Culnane and Mrs Ryan for training each week.
