Canberra 2016

Canberra 2016

Earlier this month, Saturday 6 August, 30 students and three teachers set off for Canberra to undertake an educational tour of the National Capital. Whilst on the tour, they participated in a variety of educational programs focused on Australian history, culture, heritage and democracy.

The Australian Government recognizes the importance of all young Australians being able to visit their National Capital as part of their civics and citizenship education. To assist parents in meeting the cost of the excursion, the Australian Government contributes funding of $260 per eligible student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate (PACER) program towards the travel expenses incurred. This contribution is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion.

We would like to thank the Australian Government for their continued support of this program. We also thank Ms Helen Barry, Mr Paul Culnane and Mr Barry Ward for accompanying the students. We hope that the excursion was a rewarding experience for all the students.
