MIS Update: Fire and Wood

Our Year 11 MIS students recently completed the Chubb Fire and Awareness course, where they learnt about fires and fire hazards that occur in the workplace and domestic environments. The highlight of the course for students was putting the theory into practice, as they used a number of different fire extinguishers to extinguish some real fires.

Our Year 12 MIS students finished the construction of three picnic benches requested by GEMS Prep School. The students enjoyed the idea of making this ‘real life’ project for use within the community. Monique and Kent Vollprecht from GEMS presented students with a Certificate of Appreciation for their hard work and efforts.

The next step for these Year 12 students will be to apply their new learned skills of construction, and more importantly their skills of supervision, as they buddy the Year 11 students to complete another order of picnic benches for our Pre-Primary.
