Students from Year 8 & 9 attended the Sorry Day event held at Wellington Square in East Perth on Friday 26 May. The event was a fantastic opportunity for our students to join in the discussion on Reconciliation, to recognise the resilience and strength of Australia’s first people, and to celebrate their history and the breadth of Indigenous culture.
With 2017 marking 20 years since the handing down of the Bringing Them Home Report, students also gained information about the history and significance behind this report on the separation of indigenous children from their families. They learned about issues that continue to exist for stolen generations and how to support the need for ongoing reconciliation, healing and harmony within Australia for all people.
