SWPSA Athletics Carnival @Bunbury

The Primary Athletics team went to Bunbury on Thursday 19 October to compete in the SWPSA Athletics Carnival at Hay Park.  Forty-one students represented our College in their year level for a range of track events as well as jumps and throws.  The College competed against five other Catholic and Independent schools in Group 2, with a total of twelve schools from the South-West region attending this year’s carnival.

Our Year 4 students excelled in the team competitions, winning their leaderball, pass-ball and baton relay race, as well as some fantastic individual efforts in the 100m and 200m races.  All students displayed excellent competition and sportsmanship, and are to be congratulated on their dedication and the effort they put into each event.

There were some remarkable individual results across the day for many students. Year 6 Nicholas Hay placed in all four of his individual events, while Year 4 student Dash Bridgham achieved four 1st place finishes as well finishing second in the 400m and long jump.

In Year 5 Larnie Williams and Sabella Banks took out first and second in the 100m and 200m races as well as the triple jump. Larnie also came fourth in the long jump, while Sabella won the long jump and came second in the turbo jav.

The Interschool Athletics Carnival provides students from the South West region with a higher level of competition, demonstrating that achieving at sport is more than being gifted with natural talent. It also requires effort and training if they want to excel.  It was great to see our students striving to achieve self satisfying results.
