Tennis clinic with MacKillop Alumnus

Children from Years 1-3 participated in four weeks of tennis coaching sessions this term, run by MacKillop 2009 graduate, Joshua Grace. The children were excited to learn skills with Josh each week, and thoroughly enjoyed his sense of humour.

The main focus was on developing the fundamental movement skill of 'striking'. The students also learned different grips, practised forehand and backhand shots and improved their ability to rally with a partner.

SWPSA Athletics Carnival @Bunbury

The Primary Athletics team went to Bunbury on Thursday 19 October to compete in the SWPSA Athletics Carnival at Hay Park.  Forty-one students represented our College in their year level for a range of track events as well as jumps and throws.  The College competed against five other Catholic and Independent schools in Group 2, with a total of twelve schools from the South-West region attending this year’s carnival.

Perth Scorchers give kids a go at cricket

The Perth Scorchers Bus visited the College last Wednesday to give students the opportunity to have a go at playing cricket.

Facilitated by the South West Cricket Development Office, the sessions gave students a chance to try out the sport, with the aim of promoting cricket to ages 7-12.

The activities continue the College’s primary sports program of refining fundamental movement skills to develop specific skills used in organized games such as cricket.

ACC Hockey Challenge South West

On Thursday, 22nd June the St Mary MacKillop College girls and boys hockey teams travelled to Bunbury to play against three other schools in the ACC Hockey competition for the South West.

Our boys’ team knew they would be facing a challenging day, with half the team made up of Year 7 and Year 8 students.

Year 5/6 Winter Sports Day in Bunbury

The Year 5 and 6 students represented our College at the South West Primary Schools Association (SWPSA) Winter Sports Carnival on Thursday 8 June, at Hay Park in Bunbury. Students chose to participate in hockey, netball, football or soccer in teams against other schools, on what turned out to be a gorgeous winter’s day with sunny blue skies.
