Primary Choir second place at Bunbury Eisteddfod

On June 15, the Primary Choir travelled to the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre to participate in the WA Performing Arts Eisteddfod. After singing all the way on the bus, the students put in a wonderful performance against six other schools from the region.

The choir began their performance with ‘Cold Snap’ by Mark Hayes, a highly entertaining musical depiction of the things that happen when Old Man Winter comes knocking at the door, complete with on-stage coughing, sneezing and clicking fingers. Their second piece was ‘Whisper’ by Greg Gilpin, a creative and energetic performance with plenty of “Sshh” as well as whispering sounds and actions.

Conductor of Melbourne’s ‘Choir of Hard Knocks’, Dr Jonathon Welch AM, judged the performances, awarding second place to St Mary MacKillop College. Choirmaster, Mrs Janine Milicich, said that the students put so much effort into learning the parts and harmonies to their songs. “Their performance and their behaviour were a credit to our College,” she said. “I feel very privileged to work with such wonderful students.”
