Secondary Careers Coordinator

Commencing as soon as practical, this is an ongoing position, either a full time or part time position.

A St Mary MacKillop College teacher encourages each student to discover and develop their interests and talents in order to become the best they can be. Providing innovative and best practice teaching, students will grow and develop lifelong learning attributes. Your role is to plan, organise and deliver educational programs, modelled within the Catholic Ethos, in a positive learning environment.

The position of Secondary Careers Coordinator is an important role within the College and holds responsibility for providing support and guidance to our secondary students regarding career paths and choices. This varied position requires you to be self-motivated, flexible in your approach and an excellent communicator with students, parents, staff and the wider community. You will need to have a strong interest in this area, as well as a passion for assisting others, enabling you to work effectively towards the vision for this area.

There is a 0.3 FTE time allocation with this position. Dependent on your skill set, the remainder of your load will be made up teaching in Religious Education, English, Mathematics, or Physical Education.
This position can be full-time or part-time by negotiation.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Current registration with Teacher Registration Board of WA (TRBWA).
  • Previous experience in a similar role would be highly advantageous..
  • A willingness to promote and support Catholic values as a member of the St Mary MacKillop College community,along with the ability to demonstrate the completion, or working towards, Accreditation to Teach in a Catholic School.
  • A current Working with Children Check.
  • A valid National Police History Check and a valid National Police Criminal History Check.

  • Is competent with the use of technology in the classroom and when designing careers publications.
  • Is a strong communicator having the ability to establish and maintain relationships with external employers and tertiary providers.
  • Has demonstrated competence in adopting a range of strategies with students that enables them to grow and flourish.
