Secondary Campus Athletics’ Carnival 2016

Congratulations to Kelly House on winning the St Mary MacKillop College Inter-House Athletics Carnival for 2016. The weather conditions were kind on the day which allowed the students to produce their best efforts and we were privileged to watch several new records being created on the day.

TIMOR RAFFLE WINNERS

Congratulations to the winners of the Timor Raffle (Permit No. LS208474116) which was drawn Saturday 14 May at our High Tea for Timor. The winners are:

Dad’s reading morning Wednesdays

Every Wednesday from 8am the College invites dads to bring their children to school and read a story to them in the Primary campus library before class. This is a relaxed environment for dads to spend time with their kids at school, meet other dads and support their child’s education at St Mary MacKillop College.

Climbing the wall in our new gym

Physical Education staff have completed orientation and instructor training on our new climbing wall, and are ready to show students the ropes. Students are instructed on safety procedures and the correct use of equipment before climbing.

TIMOR HIGH TEA – A FANTASTIC FUNDRAISER

A wonderful time was had by all who attended and supported this most enjoyable of fundraisers last Saturday 14h May in our new College Gymnasium. More than 180 guests arrived for an afternoon of fun and fabulous food accompanied by copious cups of tea and coffee. The high tea was beautifully presented, and served by the students with a little help from their parents and siblings who manned the kitchen. The fathers of Timor 2016 were very impressive with their work in kitchen.

Emma Booth visit

Acclaimed WA actress Emma Booth followed up her red carpet appearance at the Logies by visiting South West schools last week, and took the time on Wednesday to meet with our Senior students in the gymnasium’s new drama studio.

Emma, who is known for her roles in Underbelly, Glitch, Tim Winton’s Cloudstreet, and Hollywood blockbuster Gods & Egypt, spoke about the distinction of screen acting from theatre.

Mission Mart

As well as celebrating our Mother’s Day Liturgy on Friday 6 May, the Year 1 and Year 4 classes held their Mission Mart, with all primary students looking colourful in their ‘free dress’ for a gold coin donation.

The Year 1 classes provided the wonderful cake stall which everyone enjoyed, while the Year 4 classes organized entertaining activities for all the students at lunch time.

Mothers Day Liturgy

Our Primary campus celebrated Mother’s Day this morning with a Liturgy and the blessing of all mothers, grandmothers and motherly figures who have nurtured and cared for them. Children read a number of tributes to mums and sang songs honouring them.

ANZAC ASSEMBLY

On Monday 25th April, we had both primary and secondary students represent St Mary MacKillop College in the annual ANZAC march in Busselton.

The Primary campus also came together on Friday 29th April for a prayer assembly. We took the opportunity to gather together and remember those who served Australia through the many conflicts that have occurred around the world.
