New Principal Appointed

Experienced Catholic educator Frank Norton has been appointed Principal of St Mary MacKillop College, Busselton.

Catholic Education Western Australia Executive Director Dr Tim McDonald today announced Mr Norton would lead the College from the beginning of Term 1, 2017.

Mr Norton is currently Deputy Principal Teaching and Learning at Lumen Christi College, in Perth’s south-east, a position he has held for three years. Prior to this he was Deputy Headmaster at Aquinas College for five years, following his role as Deputy Headmaster at Christian Brothers College, Fremantle, from 2002 to 2008.

Mr Norton is known for his exemplary Catholic and professional leadership, and has implemented innovative programs and procedures for both staff and students in his previous roles.

Dr McDonald said Mr Norton’s experience and knowledge meant he was well placed to lead the College, which officially opened at the beginning of this year, with the amalgamation of St Joseph’s School and MacKillop Catholic College.

St Mary MacKillop College now has more than 1,200 students from Kindergarten to Year 12.

“Mr Norton is an excellent choice to lead the College in the spirit and legacy of St Mary MacKillop, a pioneer who showed tremendous courage in delivering Catholic education to Australia and New Zealand,” Dr McDonald said.

“I congratulate Mr Norton and look forward to seeing the College continue to grow and flourish.”
