On country for NAIDOC Week

On country for NAIDOC Week

To celebrate NAIDOC week this year, A group of students from the College headed out ‘on country’ at the end of Term Two with local business owner Josh Whiteland from Koomal Dreaming and Cape Cultural Tours.

Accompanied by Mr Cummins and Aboriginal Liaison officer Miss Weston, the Middle School students, many of whom have Aboriginal heritage, took a guided walk around the tip of Cape Naturaliste to learn about the local flora and fauna. They also enjoyed a guided tour of the lighthouse, followed by an interactive didgeridoo music session and an informative discussion about Aboriginal artefacts and traditional tools.

The students then enjoyed a BBQ lunch of native food tastings, which included Kangaroo steaks and lemon myrtle chicken.
