Ultimate Frisbee teams show great sportsmanship

Two Year 10-12 Mixed teams travelled to Perth last Thursday for the 2017 Ultimate Frisbee High School Championships.

I am reminded every day how proud I am to be working at this school, but today the students also reminded me that sometimes it’s not all about winning but also about how you play the game.

Advancing quickly to the Grand Final against Shenton College, our first team were defeated quite convincingly (by a team that included two National and two State players) to earn a commendable second place in their division.

Our students showed outstanding skills throughout the day, with Seth Eguiguren, Hannah Taylor, Kian Fancote, Brooke Gibson and Brent Harbeck all announced in the Ultimate Frisbee All Stars Team. These and other team members were also approached to try out for the WA State U18 Frisbee Team.

Additionally our second team, who finished third overall, were presented with the Spirit Award for their fairness, sportsmanship and how they represented themselves on the field. All teams rated their opponents throughout the day for this award.
