The first Friday of 2019 kicked off with a whole school assembly in the gymnasium, where the new Year 6 Primary Leaders were introduced and presented with their badges.

Led by Audrey McSevich and Noah Blackford, the Primary House Leaders recited their pledge as role models to offer their talents and time to the life and vitality of the College community and commit to building relationships that reflect the values of the College.

2018 Graduates Results

College congratulates 2018 graduates on their results

2018 graduates from St Mary MacKillop College once again produced some excellent results, with a 98% VET Achievement and eight students obtaining an ATAR over 92. Of our ATAR students, 92% received an offer from a public university, with a further nine students also receiving early offers from the University of Notre Dame.

Christmas Cakes and Hampers

The College community has once again generously supported St Vincent de Paul and the combined churches of Busselton by bringing in plenty of non-perishable items for their annual Christmas Hamper Appeal.

Students across Primary and Secondary classrooms have donated tinned goods, dry foods and Christmas treats for local families in need around Busselton.

MacKillop Football Stars Kick It

Two past St Mary MacKillop College students are one step closer to kicking off their football dreams this month.

Damon Greaves moved to Melbourne last week to join fellow MacKillop alumni Ben Stratton at the Hawthorn Football Club, after gaining rookie selection for the AFL team.

IronKids 2018 Champion School

St Mary MacKillop College has once again brought home the trophy for Champion School at the Busselton IronKids event this year, with more than 35 students from the College participating in the annual triathlon festival for ages 7-13.

College staff member, Mrs Vanessa Philp, who was also volunteering at the event, accepted the trophy and cheque for $1,000 on behalf of the College.

ICAS Maths Distinctions

Year 8 student Darcy Bailey has earned an outstanding achievement of High Distinction in the 2018 ICAS Mathematics Competition that was held in August. This result places him in the top 1% of Year 8 students across Australia.

Five more of our students also achieved Distinction Certificates, which placed them in the national top 10% of students in their year group: Jarrad Tutt (Year 7), Finn Barrett-Lennard (Year 8), as well as Henrietta Hodel and James Miles in Year 9 and Flynn Hembroff in Year 10.

Congratulations to all of our high achieving Mathematics students who participated in what is a very high standard of national competition.

Science is alive in Primary

Students from Kindy to Year 6 were highly entertained recently, when Mick Doyle from Science Alive spent two days with the College to share his passion for all things Science.

Years 4-6 enjoyed an overview of Earth and Space Sciences, as they learned about our earth’s ever-changing landscape, and how shifting tectonic plates cause earthquakes and tsunamis.

2018 Presentation Night

This year’s Presentation Night was another successful showcase of the College, celebrating the very best in talent, ability and hard work from students across all learning areas.

Congratulations to all subject and course award winners, and to all Special Awards and Scholarships.
