ICAS Maths Distinctions

Year 8 student Darcy Bailey has earned an outstanding achievement of High Distinction in the 2018 ICAS Mathematics Competition that was held in August. This result places him in the top 1% of Year 8 students across Australia.

Five more of our students also achieved Distinction Certificates, which placed them in the national top 10% of students in their year group: Jarrad Tutt (Year 7), Finn Barrett-Lennard (Year 8), as well as Henrietta Hodel and James Miles in Year 9 and Flynn Hembroff in Year 10.

Congratulations to all of our high achieving Mathematics students who participated in what is a very high standard of national competition.

Science is alive in Primary

Students from Kindy to Year 6 were highly entertained recently, when Mick Doyle from Science Alive spent two days with the College to share his passion for all things Science.

Years 4-6 enjoyed an overview of Earth and Space Sciences, as they learned about our earth’s ever-changing landscape, and how shifting tectonic plates cause earthquakes and tsunamis.

2018 Presentation Night

This year’s Presentation Night was another successful showcase of the College, celebrating the very best in talent, ability and hard work from students across all learning areas.

Congratulations to all subject and course award winners, and to all Special Awards and Scholarships.

Years 8-11 students enjoy Philosothon

On Wednesday 17 October, a group of eight students from Years 8 to 11 travelled up to Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School to compete in the annual Philosothon - a community of inquiry concerned with the big questions at the edge of science and reason. A Philosothon is a competition designed to promote critical and creative thinking and collaboration skills.

Extending our staff through Art

The College’s commitment to nurturing a lifetime love of learning is not just for our students, as our staff are encouraged to develop new skills and seek new challenges.

Following on from woodworking sessions last term, a group of aspiring artists from among our staff has been coming together on a Thursday after school this term to express their creative side through oil painting.
