Swimming training has begun

More than 30 students turned up at 7am Tuesday morning for our first squad training session for the year. This might have had something to do with the free breakfast offered by our Hospitality students, but they were certainly not disappointed when they returned to the College after their training session.

Meet our new Year 5 teachers

“It’s a very big school!” was Year 5 teacher Mr Jack Cotterell’s first impression of our College, coming recently from a small Catholic primary school in Karratha. He is looking forward to being part of a great community, and the challenge of “getting to know so many students’ names”.

Summer sporting achievements

At St Mary MacKillop College we encourage students to find a balance between academic, social, creative and sporting pursuits. Many of our students have been busy during the summer break in various sports, with some inspiring results

Year 12 students prepare for the year ahead

As the new school year began and our Year 7 students experienced their first day as St Mary MacKillop students, our Year 12 students were off campus exploring ways in which they can increase their chances of success in their final year at the College.

Creative new playgrounds

During the holiday break, the swings and climbing equipment in both the Early Learning Centre and the Junior playground were removed to make way for some new and exciting play spaces, due to be installed by the end of this month.

Introducing our new Principal, Frank Norton

Our new principal, Frank Norton, is father and husband to a family of teachers. “Jen and I have always loved our jobs and despite the amount of work they see us do, both Jackson and Madi wanted to follow the same path – they both seem to be great teachers.” His wife Jenny teaches Pre Primary; his daughter is a Year 1 teacher in Parmelia and his son is Head of Sport at Carey Baptist College.

First week of school for a cockatoo

The first week of school at St Mary MacKillop College is an exciting time, where students arriving on campus for the first time are welcomed and given opportunities to explore their new surroundings.

Amidst our new students this year, however, was a rather unexpected arrival.

2016 graduates celebrate excellent ATAR results

While we know the ATAR & WACE results form only part of the wonderful St Mary MacKillop College education, the data has been published - and we couldn't be prouder.

St Mary MacKillop College is the second highest ranked rural school in Western Australia, placing 29th overall in the ‘League Tables’ published in January based on ATAR scores.

Old uniforms well received in Timor

The College Uniform Shop has donated our obsolete school uniform stock to children and school communities in Timor and Africa.

Mrs Leopoldina Gutteres, from the Timorese community where our Year 12 students spend their time each July, has thanked the College for donations of St Joseph’s School uniform items to the St Joseph’s students in Baguia, Timor Leste, who are using it as their school uniform.
