Last Friday 16 June, Years 3-6 competed in cross country races, while students from Kindy to Year 2 participated in a Fun Run to raise money for the College P&F.
The Year 6 House Leaders took the whole campus through a warm-up, and a little ‘YMCA’ got the children moving and in the mood to run. With the music pumping, not even drizzling rain could dampen spirits as the younger classes ran or walked as many laps as they could in the half hour.
Some students and teachers were more energetic than others, but there were smiles all around and children were rewarded with an icy pole from the P&F for all their efforts.
Meanwhile, Years 3-6 headed out on the 1.6km cross country course, with ribbons awarded to first, second, third and fourth girls and boys in each year group. The top six in each race qualify to train and represent the College in the SWSPA interschool cross country event at Bunbury Cathedral Grammar on Thursday 27 July.
Sports teacher Mrs Nadia Farmer was pleased to see the good spirit, excellent sportsmanship and effort displayed by all students in the long distance running events.
Many parents volunteered their time to assist on the day and offer support to the children, and the College is grateful to the P&F for organising the fundraising event, which has raised more than $5000 so far this year.
"Thank you to all the Primary teachers and staff for helping out, especially to Simone Clews, Tracey Parry and Sandy Liddle for all their help getting information out to parents, and to Mrs Adele Ryan and Mrs Nadia Farmer for organising such a special day,” said P&F President Justin Hall.
“A special thank you to Leicha Fuller for always putting her hand up to help out and assisting me with the Fun Run, and a big thank you to all the parents and students that help us continue to assist in the College in providing a quality education for our children.”
